Pluto in Aquarius + the Apocalyptic Imagination

Apocalypse comes from the Greek word for revelation. Pluto in Capricorn(2008-2024) revealed a need for personal and collective reckoning with issues of systemic power, supremacist culture and questions of what is and is not sustainable. Pluto makes its final entrance into Aquarius on November 19 2024, where it will remain for 20 years, revealing a new thematic series of required excavations.

This lecture and discussion will underscore our position as integral parts of a larger whole, collaborating in a world undergoing layers of collapse and rebirth. We will explore potentials, possibilities and pitfalls of Pluto-in-Aquarius-style revelation and depth work. We will summon Pluto as a root metaphor for the psycho-spiritual processes at play during times of upheaval and transformation while [re]acquainting ourselves with imagination as a vital technology of consciousness. 

In addition to surveying historical periods during which Pluto was in Aquarius for glimpses of archetypal and concrete potentials, we will explore the ways insights and frameworks of astrology, depth psychology, deep ecology and deep time can  reconnect us with the imagination as a fundamental organ of perception, creativity and necessary innovation.

This lecture will include:

• a breakdown of the archetypes of Aquarius and Pluto 
• timing and specific astrological alignments (ie Uranus-Pluto trine) 
• historical correlates
• a discussion of earth-based systems as models for navigating
• the Pluto opposition of the first nuclear bombs and ways 
  
  This experience is, however, centered in a vision for a participatory and relational astrology that puts more emphasis on how to engage astrology as living prophecy, not prediction. 
  
  You will receive questions for reflection, contemplations, resources and suggestions for engaging Plutonian material. The lecture will run for approximately 2 hours followed by a short break. We will reconvene for QA and discussion.
  

Please note: Amanda is committed to furthering astrological practice that is rooted in love and recognition of the sacredness of life.  Although this lecture will not focus explicitly on the following world events, it is important to her that folks are able to come together in spaces where we acknowledge fully that genocide is happening around the world, including in Palestine, that climate collapse is real and also happening, and that neither of these or many other human rights issues facing us can be whittled down to politics. By facing the truth of these things we are better able to cope, communicate, envision, organize – and commit to an astrology that serves collective liberation.

Accessibility: This event will include audio and visual with captions enabled. Participants will be invited to participate in setting the container through guided meditation. All aspects of the lecture and discussion are optional. Although this is not meant to be a group processing space, given the nature of the times and topic, sensitive topics might arise. Participants are responsible for their own well-being.

Bio: Amanda Moreno (she/her)  is an astrologer, soul worker, educator and Deep Memory Process practitioner who has been helping folks connect more fully to their place in the universe since 2010. Her roots are in the evolutionary, archetypal and humanistic branches of the craft. She specializes in longer term support that centers psychosynthesis and integrative somatic parts work, planets squaring the lunar nodes, and helping folks navigate transformation. Amanda’s master’s degree in depth psychology focused on ways astrology can help people navigate personal and collective rites of passage.
